WEARY AND WAITING

The last two days have been difficult. We are just plain tired! It was a wonderful weekend with visitors, and much laughter, and support. The nights we don't sleep well leave us more fragile, and emotionally weak. We know that there will be good days, and bad days, sad days, and even angry days. Yet we are standing, and stronger than we ever thought possible. Thanks to you all for praying. It makes such a difference!

I'll be home on Thursday, and back the same day. Then I'll be here through Easter, and the week after. I will be with Tom when he is going thru the worst of it. We fell so priviledged to have so much support, love, and prayer. May you all be Blessed with God's redeeming love, and Presence throughout Easter week, and beyond!

Love,
Kris and Tom

weekend in hospital

Hi!

Wonderful day with Kris and Chris here, along with the Templetons, and then he Dowleys all the way up from South Carolina! Back today to also visit me in the hospital. A rough night last night with feelings of sickening and lower blood output. However, we go through, and now have a relaxing day ahead with Peter and Susan here again. We lovc them, and certainly appreciate their long visit, as well all all other visitis from friends and family.

Sat. 27th,

Nice day, had Chris up here most of the day, and Kris joined us in the afternoon. Very nice to have the family around to talk to and play a bit of cards, and watch golf. I miss playing, but look forward to getting back to it this summer or fall. These are long days, with just the thought of having this last for months longer. But... lots of support and help from friends and family, and the hospital staff at MCV cancer unit is great! I am apparently on the cancer weight gain program, having put on 35-40 lbs in the last month with edema gain from lack of lymphnodes doing their jobs! Not a pretty site. I feel like a very, very short linebacker for the N.Y. Giants! Hopefully, they can use a little magic and start to get some of this out of me. So, enjoy the picture of Shannon and me on the front of the blog for now - she still looks fine, and hopefully I will get back in shape. Or maybe, I will just hope to look as good as Shannon, glasses and all! Thanks to all for your support during this long process!

caregiverKris'thoughts

Hi,
It took me a little longer to get this blogger thing, but I'm "in", and I'm glad that you'all can get updates on my "ONE IN A MILLION" HUSBAND, TOM.

I've been home for a few days doing the homemaker thing, and going to the dentist (tried to get out of it, but lost), and tonight Chris and I are celebrating my Birthday (January) by going out to dinner and to the Virginia Symphony. Then we'll go over to Richmond tomorrow, where I'll stay thru Easter. Tom does not want me with him the second week of Chemo, because they tell him that will be the worst week of his life. It's hard to be home alone, and not where I think I should be, but I'll honor his wishes.

Thank you all for your prayers, love, and encouragement. If you want to send Tom a card, send it to Tory Gregg, 5627 New Kent Rd., Richmond, Virginia, 23225 LOVE YOU ALL, Kris

Medical update

HI,

Chemo was started on Thursday the 25th, to continue for a week. Then some time off, and more chemo for about 1-2 weeks. Then planning for Stem Cell Transplant, which could take a couple of months. Long time, but lots of support from family and friends.

Running for Tom

Well I've been helping coach a group of new runners here in Richmond since January to train up and run the Ukrops Monument Avenue 10K. It's a a pretty big deal here in Richmond and there will be 35,000 participants. The run is to support the Massey Cancer Center where Tom is now at and is now of greater importance for us here. If you are interested in making a donation you can go to http://www.run4massey.org/ and click support a runner or walker and search for Karl Kuester to make a donation.
Thank You,
Karl

Waiting for test results

Today is another day of testing for Tom and after a procedure is having a quiet afternoon.
Peace,
Karl
